Developed a ten year strategy and roadmap for a food business that operated in multiple markets and across numerous offerings

Context
The JSE-listed client wished to understand its long-term strategic options (and strategic investments) that were likely to increase returns for all stakeholders (total shareholder returns, value derived by franchisees and employees, and impact made on society).
The project’s objective was to build an insights-driven, risk appropriate ten year strategic roadmap to drive accelerated, profitable growth and guide investment decisions.
Approach
Once we had agreed on the client’s growth ambition, we undertook a detailed analysis of the client’s business activities and infrastructure that allows the organisation to compete in its markets. This allowed us to determine the company resources available and the potential constraints to achieve its ambition.
An analysis of the markets in which it operated, its competitive position pivoted into an analysis of trends that could be leveraged to achieve the growth ambitions.
Options were developed, assessed and prioritized and the viability of chosen options was assessed.
Impact
The ten year strategy was approved by the board leading to a CAGR 26% revenue and CAGR 169% operating profit over the first two years.
